Chennai: While Kabali has hypnotised a large population, Deccan Chronicle  approaches a few psychologists to know the reason of this obsession and craze.

“Social conformity is a very important factor that is coming to play. People feel that as everyone else is crazy about it, therefore, they should be too. People are conditioned to feel this way, owing to the amount of publicity that has gone in,” said Sumith.

This is definitely a start of a trend in terms of future productions. Producers may later base their productions on Kabali, using it as a parameter, G. Unni, a counsellor from Mumbai, said.

“If one sees an advertisement only too often, not just on television sets, but also everywhere else, like on credit cards or on flights, a sense of curiosity builds up,” said Christina. T, a counselor. When offers of free tickets along with the purchase of clothes has been put together, it makes the public think there is something great awaiting them and it should not be missed, she added.

“These are mere tactics of the film industry to get as many people as possible to watch the film within the first week. On the other hand, people are concerned about their status. They want to be accepted and liked and if watching the film on the first day is going to get  approval in society, why not go ahead with that,” said B. Elayaraju, a counsellor with 104 helpline.

As it is a multi-crore project, the producers would need their returns and they are, therefore, creating a bait for the public with different kinds of offers, he said.
