National award-winner debuts in Tamil
It's a great opportunity for me to foray into the Tamil film industry with this film , says Sanchari Vijay
Bheerangi Puram will be the first multilingual film (Tamil, Telugu, Kannada) to be shot extensively in Rajasthan. A road story, which features national award-winner Sanchari Vijay as the lead protagonist — it traces a journey that starts in Chennai and ends in Rajasthan.
Talking about the movie, director John Johny Janardhan said, “The film is all about the generation gap and psychological differences between youngsters and senior citizens. I did extensive research on the topic before embarking on the script. I even created a fictitious village set called Bheerangi Puram in Rajasthan! Most of the actors are handpicked from the stage. Also, makeup plays a crucial role in the film.”
Kannada star Sanchari Vijay, who seems excited about his K’town debut, says, “It’s a great opportunity for me to foray into the Tamil film industry with this film. I got the national award for my Kannada film Aanu Avanulla Avalu in which I played a transgender. In Bheerangi Puram also, I have a challenging role where I am donning multiple looks — from that of a youth to a middle-aged man, to a 70-year-old! My makeup usually takes around five hours and makeup artist Uma Maheshwar has done a fabulous job.”
