A still from Dhayam

Dhayam, directed by Kannan Rangaswamy, has the credit of being the first-ever Tamil film to be shot entirely inside a room.  Actor Santhosh Prathap of Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam fame plays the lead.

The film is about eight people and an interview that changes their lives entirely.

The movie, which was supposed to hit the theatres in November, is finally seeing the light of day on March 24.

Kannan is overwhelmed by the audience’s response for the trailer. “Since the film has newcomers, we never expected such a response. Also, we were careful in not repeating the same camera angle as it would give a monotonous feel. The horror element and a mask used in the film (created by Zagone Studios) based in the US are the highlights of Dhayam.”

The entire movie was shot in record time of 15 days. “There are several films with the same template in Hollywood and those movies are dialogue-oriented, but I wanted to go the action-oriented way. Until now, no actor in the film knows the full story of Dhayam! It is a deliberate attempt as I wanted the artistes to act and react spontaneously. That is the reason I didn’t narrate the entire story.”
Bankrolled by ARS Sunder and P Thiru under the banner Future Film Factory International, Dhayam’s music is by Sathish Selvam.
