Samuthirakani touches upon a societal issue
Anjlai was very cooperative despite being hurt in action scenes.
"Till recently, they used to say that it is difficult to get small films into theatres. But, now it looks like even big budget movies are mired in several problems. This is my third venture with Samuthirakani, with whom I share a great bond. I have heard that Priyadarshan and Mohanlal sir gel so well that they have collaborated for 42 films. If not so much, I want to do at least 15 to 20 films with Kani anna" said ace filmmaker and actor Sasikumar at the promo meet of Nadodigal 2, a sequel to their earlier blockbuster with the same name.
"Kani anna's films always touch upon societal problems. In Nadodigal 2, he has spoken about the pains and sufferings the transgender undergo. Transwoman Namita has acted in a crucial role. We should not discriminate against them."
Talking about the camaraderie shared by the two heroines Anjali and Athulya, he said, "We feared that there would be ego problems when there are two lead girls. However, they gelled instantly and became friends (laughs)."
Samuthirakani on his part said, "After Nadodigal and Poraali, it was the death of Sasi's cousin producer Ashok which brought us together. Ashok's message sent to me ten minutes prior to his suicide was disturbing me. Anjlai was very cooperative despite being hurt in action scenes. We planned for 75 days of shoots, but completed it in 54 days in Madurai." Bankrolled by Nandagopal , the movie has music by Justin Prabhakaran.
