Yet another short-film maker Karthik Naren, who tasted success with works like Oomai Kural and Pradhi, is trying his hand at feature films, with the  psychological thriller titled Dhuruvangal Padhinaaru, which is to hit theatres on December 30.

The 22-year-old mechanical engineer from Kovai, has attempted a novel way of narration in his debut venture, which has Rahman in the lead. “The screenplay and content are the highlights of my movie. When you watch the film, it will give you the feeling of reading a crime thriller novel.” Within a few minutes, the audiences will be drawn into the film and each one will turn to being the detective, wanting to unfold the crime scene, he vouches.

“The film begins from the middle of the story. There is no heroine and it is sans songs,” the director adds. On roping in Rahman, he says, “I wanted a 50-plus protagonist who would play a cop. He had to have a tough look and physique.

This cop won’t raise his voice, nor will he use muscle power. There are no fight sequences in the movie. He will investigate the issue through his intelligent moves. Though we considered many actors, we finally zeroed down on Rahman sir as we felt he was very apt.”
