I choose roles that suit my body language: Vijay Antony
Having shot in and around Puducherry, Pollachi, Palakkad and Chennai, Vijay tells us that Saithan will release by July end or August.
With his latest flick Pichaikaran evoking a positive response, it looks like Vijay Antony’s careful selection of roles has paid off. “In my next film Saithan, I play an intelligent software engineer. This is a full-on commercial entertainer with a fair mix of romance, suspense and action. My characters in each of my films bear no resemblance to each other,” says Vijay.
How does he feel about getting into the shoes of a new character, one after the other? “It’s not that easy. But the moment the camera is switched on, I have to mould myself to breathe life into the characters I portray. With experience it comes more naturally. Also I choose roles that suit my body language,” he smiles.
Saithan has Arundathi playing Vijay’s romantic interest. “I prefer working with new talent irrespective of whether they know the language or not. At the same time, I have been keen on taking female leads, who know Tamil quite well. Working with newbies has its own advantages as they’re open to ideas and the audience can see the actresses as themselves, devoid of any pre-conceived image from their previous films,” he explains.
