Revoking an MGR classic
Remixing an old classic number of the legendary MGR is no easy task.
Remixing an old classic number of the legendary MGR is no easy task. Recently, GV Prakash had rehashed the message-oriented song — Kannai Nambaadhe Unnai Yemmaattrum — from Ninaithadhai Mudippavan for his acting venture Enakku Innoru Paer Irukku. It did not go well with audiences, at least not MGR fans! Now, choreographer/filmmaker/actor Lawrence is also at it.
The latest buzz is that the all-time hit song Aadaludan Paadalai Kettu Rasipadhile from Kudiyirundha Kovil has been remixed for the Lawrence flick Motta Shiva Ketta Shiva. Singers TMS and P. Suseela had rendered the original song. We all remember the fast beat and Bangra style of dance by actress L. Vijayalakshmi, (a trained classical dancer) alongside of MG Ramachandran. Now, for the remix version, Lawrence and Nikki Galrani will be reprising the veterans, for a composition by actor-turned-musician Amresh Ganesh. The song was shot in Malaysia recently.
The movie, directed by Sai Ramani, is being produced by RB Choudhary and is a remake of the Tollywood hit Pattas. One hopes that Lawrence, being a choreographer and an acclaimed dancer, will retain the essence of the iconic number.
