Amitabh Bachchan, who never ceases to surprise audiences with his choice of quirky characters, is at it once again. If sources close to the project are to be believed, Big B will be portraying the role of a trans-woman in the Bollywood remake of Raghava Lawrence’s Tamil horror comedy Kanchana- Muni 2. He will be reprising the role of Sarath Kumar, who played the critically acclaimed part in the Tamil version.

In an interview to DC, Lawrence had confirmed that he would be making his Bollywood directorial debut with his blockbuster Kanchana franchise and Akshay Kumar will be brought on board to act the role he did in Tamil.

“Akshay Kumar and I have been in talks for a year and a half toying with the idea of remaking Kanchana in Hindi. And after several discussions, it has come to shape finally. I am improvising the script to suit the present times, Akshay’s image and also Bollywood audience tastes,” Lawrence had said.

On his Bollywood debut he had said, “There were times when I have dreamt of at least being part of a group dancer in Hindi films. Later, I turned an actor and director. Today, I am directing a big star in a Hindi film. It is heartwarming and I would say it is all blessings from Raghavendra Swami and my mother.”

Costume and production designer and Sabina and Tushaar Kapoor are said to be bankrolling the movie. Meanwhile, the actor-choreographer-filmmaker’s latest franchise Kanchana 3 –Muni 4, hit the marquee last week to mixed reviews and is still reportedly minting money at the box-office.
