From modelling to tinsel town
It is a very interesting role and this is what I have always wanted to do, says Pradaini Surva.
Short filmmaker Chandru has roped in a popular model Dushara Vijayan for his debut directorial venture Bodhai Yeri Budhi Maari with Dheeraj in the lead. Though the title may spark an immediate association with alcohol, the film is not about that, vouches Chandru, saying it is a thriller and is from an interesting genre.
Speaking to DC, an excited Dushara says, “I was called for the audition and they gave me a scene to enact. Much to my delight, the director called me the next day and asked me to join the shoot.”
Delving more into her role in BYBM, Pradaini Surva says, “I play the lead girl Janani, a homely character, opposite Dheeraj who is Karthik. They have contrasting natures and she hates Karthik throughout the film and whether they get hitched or not forms the rest. It is a very interesting role and this is what I have always wanted to do. Be a part of good cinema and it has happened to me. Thanks to the entire cast and crew who gave me comfortable space to work.”
Dushara adds that versatile actor Mime Gopi who also acts in supporting role gave her training in terms of diction and emoting. “Gopi sir used to tell me ‘when you respect your profession, it will reward you richly.’ That helped me a lot. I am also familiar with the language and dubbed my own voice for the film.”
The budding actress is happy that she has already bagged two films including one which features Ashok Selvan and Kalaiyarasan.
