I want to act in socially responsible films, says Seeman
The movie is about the problems faced by Islamic girl Ameera.
“Like how my political speeches create huge impact, my next directorial venture with Simbu will also have a huge significance in terms of content”, said actor, filmmaker and politician Seeman at the launch of his upcoming acting venture Ameera, which has RK Suresh sharing screen space with him in the lead. Popular Malayalam actress Anu Sithara plays the Muslim girl character around whom the story revolves. Suresh coproduces the film, which went on floors recently.
Speaking on the occasion, Seeman said, “Ameera which means ‘Princess’ is not a Tamil title. The movie is about the problems faced by Islamic girl Ameera. Suresh and I play crucial characters. Subramanian, an associate of my films, debuts as the director and has laced a sensitive subject speaking about the social discrepancies, sexual violence on women.”
I have learnt from Bharathiraja and Manivannan sir the importance of appearing on the visual medium. “Though I direct movies and am an active politician, people give me instant recognition when I act in films. That does not mean I can act in whatever that comes in my way. I don’t mind performing in flicks, which are socially responsible.”
