Tamil cinema has witnessed only a very few well-made medical thrillers like Arivazhagan’s Kuttram 23 and Krishna’s Yakkai. Now, director Ramani is coming out with a film in the same genre titled Owdatham, which is based on a real -life incident when a diabetes doctor from the city was exposed after he was found involved in criminal activities while prescribing medicines.
Talking to DC Ramani says, “The story is based on my personal experiences. It talks about how greedy men manufacture medicines, which have an ill-effect on people and bring them to market with the help of politicians and officials in an illegal manner. It imparts a larger message. At the same time, the film has enough commercial elements. I did extensive research on the subject.”
