Vijay gets waxed
The wax statue of actor Vijay has been installed at Mayapuri Wax Museum in Kanyakumari. He is the only Tamil actor to get this honour.
Thalapathy Vijay, who rules the roost in Tamil cinema for a quarter century with a mammoth fan following, has got a wax statue designed and erected. No, not in Madam Tussauds!
After Vijay’s Kerala fans erected a robotic statue which can dance to his hit tunes in Ottapalam, a lifelike wax statue of the Sarkar star has been installed at Mayapuri Wax Museum in Kanyakumari. A first-of-its-kind, the wax museum was opened in 2005. Vijay’s Makkal Mandram, involved in several social welfare activities, is behind this innovative measure. The statue was unveiled and opened to public on Friday.
A museum source says it has wax statues of renowned personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Obama, Mother Teresa, Charlie Chaplin and Jackie Chan among others. “But, Vijay is the only Tamil actor to get this honour,” the source adds.
Kanyakumari is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tamil Nadu. The tourists and fans of the star love the new addition at the museum and are taking pictures with his statue.
Vijay, who is basking in the success of Bigil, has moved on to his next tentatively titled Thalapathy 64, which is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj of Kaithi fame. The movie has Malavika Mohanan of Beyond the Clouds fame who was seen in a small role in Rajini’s Petta romancing Vijay.
