Actor Prem, who was elected as one of the EC members of Nadigar Sagam, seems to be a contented man these days. The actor, who was noticed for his small yet interesting role in Jyothika’s 36 Vayadhinile, has completed a little over a quarter century in Tamil and Kannada films recently. Though he started his career as an actor in Kasthoori Raja’s film, he says that since he did not have a godfather to guide him, he could not move further then. “I shifted to small screen and did several mega soaps including Nimmadhi Ungal Choice, Ganga Yamuna Saraswathi and Samudhrakani’s serial. One day, I got a call from Kalaignar Karunanidhi who wanted to cast me in his film Kannamma after he was impressed with my acting in a serial. That was a turning point — from there on, I am concentrating only on cinema and today I have completed 26 movies,” reveals Prem.

The actor is excited about his next film with Suriya, S III, the third sequel in the Singam franchise. Speaking about his first villainous character in Tamizhselvanum Thaniyaar Anjalum, which is produced by Gautham Menon, he says, “I play a different kind of villain. He doesn’t talk much, but his actions do.” The actor, who has his kitty full with films like Dhanush-Prabhu Solomon’s Rail, Anjana’s Pallandu Vaazhga, says that he wants to do challenging roles even if they have grey shades.
