I am considering the possibility of bringing my dream project, Marudhanayagam, through the small screen,” revealed Kamal Haasan at an event in the city. On choosing to debut in television, he says, “A good actor’s responsibility is to reach out to the masses. I feel proud to do that through television.” Ulaganayagan also revealed that more A-listers from Tamil cinema would soon venture into television and he is happy to be leading the trend.

Reacting to the question on when one would get to see his ambitious multi-crore budget flick, Marudhanayagam, the actor says, “Who knows? Even the small screen is an option for it.” Marudhanayagam was launched with much fanfare way back in 1997, with Queen Elizabeth II and several K’town and Bollywood celebrities attending it. The film, which boasted of names like Sathyaraj, Nasser and Pasupathy, was put on cold storage because of the lack of funds. In fact, there have been frequent rumours about it being resumed.

In an earlier interview to this newspaper, Ulaganayagan had said that the first 30-minutes portion of the multilingual film (including English), has already been shot and ready. One may recall how Kamal landed in a controversy when he announced a direct-to-home (DTH) premiere of his film Vishwaroopam.
