Kasthuri's novel aid to Cyclone Gaja victims
Water filters, napkins, medicines and mosquito repellents and tarpaulins are being sent to them.
Actress Kasthuri is the latest to join the long list of celebrities and activists who are contributing towards ameliorating the plight of Cyclone Gaja victims in the delta districts of Tamil Nadu. She sent relief materials worth Rs 12 lakhs including 1,000 imported water filters-purifiers designed exclusively for usage during natural calamities.
She revealed at a press meet, “I am sending relief materials worth Rs 12 lakhs and plan to visit the places and meet those affected. Water filters, napkins, medicines and mosquito repellents and tarpaulins are being sent to them.”
Talking about the custom-made water filters, she said, “These water purifiers have been designed solely for usage during natural disasters and have a capacity of processing 3,000 litres of water, however dirty or contaminated it is. It will ensure people get good, clean drinking water. The equipment is apparently inexpensive, easy to operate and can be used for up to three years after which it can be recycled as it is made of biodegradable materials.”
