Chennai: No social media campaign in Producers' Council polls
Deposit for president for contesting elections is Rs 1 lakh, Rs 50,000 for VPs, secretaries, treasurers.
Chennai: Tamil Film Producers' Council (TFPC) will be holding elections for 2017-19 on March 5, 2017, Justice S. Rajeswaran, retired judge of the high court and election officer of TFPC, said.
He said voting would start by 8 am and complete by 4 pm without a break. Elections are being held to select president, vice-presidents (2), secretaries (2), treasurer (1) and 21 executive committee members. Counting will begin at 5pm on the same day.
Deposit for president for contesting elections is Rs 1 lakh, Rs 50,000 for VPs, secretaries, treasurers. For EC members the deposit is Rs 10,000, Rajeswaran said.
Reacting to a question on whether actor and producer Vishal, temporarily suspended from TFPC, has been allowed to contest in the elections, he said, "The matter is in the court. Depending on the outcome of the court, Vishal can take his decision”.
The EO also gave a strict instruction that none of the members contesting this election should use social network media like Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp or put up banner of any form or make derogatory remarks while campaigning for votes. “They can issue bit notices or go in person to individual producer’s house to garner votes,” he said.
