Social activists come together for audio launch
The film is directed by Muthugopal, a prot©g© of Ameer, who will be seen in a special cameo as a farmer.
It was an audio launch with a difference! Had filmmaker Ameer wished, many top celebs would have attended his production and acting venture Achamillai Achamillai and made it a glittering affair! Instead, the Paruthi Veeran director handpicked five social activists from TN - S.P. Udhayakumar (anti-nuclear activist) cartoonist Bala (his controversial cartoon on CM landed him on jail) student Valarmathi (detained under Goondas Act for allegedly instigating students to protest against the government), the irrepressible Traffic Ramasamy and late Tamizharasan's 105- year-old mother - who are constantly toiling for the people of the state and made them guests of honour.
The film AA itself is apolitical. It deals with the specific issue of how the sludge generated from the textile units of Tirupur are drained with the effluents discharging into nearby river bodies, municipal sewers or leaching into the groundwater and causing a threat to humans. The film is directed by Muthugopal, a protégé of Ameer, who will be seen in a special cameo as a farmer.
The fiery speeches of the special guests taking a dig at Tamil Nadu caused varied reactions in the audience and Ameer reasoned out as to why he brought them on this occasion. "There are a lot of unsung heroes in the society who selflessly work for the people. I wanted to honour these 'real heroes' and bring them in front of the media here. That does not mean this is a dais against AIADMK, BJP, Rajini or Kamal."
The prolific filmmaker added, "Many shared their views on various issues. One thing I differ from them is with their opinion that actors should not come into politics. At a time when we are clueless about what the MLAs and ministers from the ruling party are speaking, it makes me think at least let Rajini or Kamal come to politics and serve the people (laughs)."
