Hero mired in story theft controversy
Bhagyaraj had also reportedly written to Mithran three weeks ago demanding an explanation for the same.
Of late, the story theft by a mafia in K'town is taking alarming proportions. After biggies like Sarkar, 96 and Comali which were mired in controversy with regard to charges of stories being stolen, the latest one to follow suit is Sivakarthikeyan's superhero film Hero, which released last Friday. Bosco Prabhu, an assistant of Atlee, had complained to South Indian Writers Association that director PS Mithran had stolen his script registered in 2017 with the association and made his film Hero. After carefully scrutinising with 18 EC members, the head of SIWA, K. Bhagyaraj, stated that the plots of Hero and Bosco’s script are one and the same.
Bhagyaraj had also reportedly written to Mithran three weeks ago demanding an explanation for the same. However, Mithran denied any involvement in taking inspiration from Bosco’s script. He also sought to discuss with the 18 EC members and Bhagyaraj also arranged for a meeting. All the members had reportedly refused to accept Mithran’s version as they strongly believed both the stories were the same. Post the meet, as per the association decision, Bhagyaraj insisted in the letter that proper compensation and credits to Bosco Prabhu should be given for Hero’s story.
However, Mithran did not respond to the letter and went ahead with the film’s release. Irked by Mithran’s stance, Bhagayaraj has given a go ahead to Bosco to approach the court for justice and that he and other members would stand by him.
Meanwhile, talking to media, Mithran said, “Bhagyaraj has read only the crux of the story. He has not read the full screenplay. My plot is different from them. I am ready to face it in the court.”
