At a time when horror thrillers rule the roost in Tamil cinema, here comes a political parody Muthina Kathirikka in which Sundar C, who has returned to acting, will be seen as a middle-aged bachelor! Romancing him is Poonam Bajwa in the movie, which is a remake of the M’town hit Vellimoonga. “It is not a frame-to-frame remake of Vellimoonga. We have just taken the premise from it and added local flavour to suit the Tamil audience,” explains debut director Venkat Raghavan who was a former associate and dialogue writer to Sundar C.

We hear that there are double-entendre dialogues in the name of comedy? “Oh, no! MK is a clean comedy and a family entertainer. I always believe in narrating a serious issue through comedy,” he says. Though a political satire, it is not against politicians, Venkat vouches. He adds further, “In colloquial terms, we call a man Muthina Kathirikka when he has crossed his prime and is still unmarried. I should thank Sundar sir for accepting to play what is potentially an uncomplimentary role. Of course, it goes well with his character of a 40-plus politician. He falls for a girl (Poonam) who is young enough to be his daughter!”  Comedian Satish appears throughout the movie in an important role.
