Exclusive: The day I stop feeling jittery, will quit the industry, says Kamal Haasan
I always uncover all my films first to the press and media, and I am following the same pattern here, says Kamal Haasan.
Mumbai: Speaking about his much-talked-about small screen debut at a press gathering, Kamal Haasan shares, “I have never behaved like a boss even when I floated my own company (banner) to produce films. I don’t don the grease paint when I am not on camera, and you see a real Kamal. Likewise, I am not a boss on the Bigg Boss show!”
Revealing that he still has the habit of meeting the press before he begins a project, he says, “I always uncover all my films first to the press and media, and I am following the same pattern here. That’s why the trailer of the show was launched amid the press before it was aired on TV.”
Reacting to why he did not choose something which is more socially-relevant, the 'Thoongaavanam' star says, “I have been working for social causes more than what was being done on shows like 'Satyamev Jayate,' in my own ways for several years. I take pride in it. Earlier, I didn’t propagate it, but these days, it is known to many people because of social media.”
He reveals that he chose 'Bigg Boss' for his foray into Television because he felt it was a good show, and that his predecessors who hosted it earlier, have done so successfully.
He adds, “Among those who have anchored before, I liked Salman Khan, it was simple and elegant. I would want to do the same in Tamil, but in a different manner.”
Elaborating on the reason why he said, ‘stop voting for money’, on the promo video of the show, he explains, “Yes, when this system of voting-for-cash stops, everything from the fundamental system will change and the country will flourish.”
Any nervousness before debuting on television? (Laughs) “Each time, I do something, I consider it as my first, and I still have butterflies in my stomach. So, this is no different! The day when I stop feeling jittery, I will quit the industry.”
