National award winner Appu Kutty, who is known for choosing versatile roles, has signed the movie Konjam Konjam in which he will be seen as an illiterate person from Tamil Nadu who goes to Kerala for better prospects. How he sets up a metal scrap shop and becomes rich forms the rest of the story.

“Even as I narrated the script, Appu Kutty sir was impressed and gave me uninterrupted dates,” claims its director Udhayshankaran. Comedian Madhumitha who rose to fame with OKOK is paired with him. While Appu plays a crucial character, Gokul from Coimbatore is the lead. Neenu from Mumbai and Priya Mohan from Kerala debut as his co-stars. Nikki Kannan, a former assistant to KV Anand and Manikandan, has been roped in for cinematography.
