Yesteryear actress Latha, who was introduced to the film industry by none other than the iconic actor MGR, is back after a long gap, in the film, Nagesh Thiraiyarangam. With Aari and Ashna Zaveri in the lead, the movie is directed by Mohammed Isaac of Agadam fame. Yet another actress, Sithara, has also been roped in for the commercial entertainer. Speaking to DC, Latha says, “Mohammed was particular that I perform the character when he approached me. I was very impressed with the script. It is a significant role for my comeback.”

Elaborating on her character, she comments, “I essay a tribal woman who strives for the welfare and education of her community. She is ambitious and wants to build a school and a college. It was something which had a new angle and I loved the role.”

The actress reveals that she keeps updating herself constantly with what’s happening around her, especially in the film industry. “Now, there are so many talented people and technically it is progressive. But more the technological advances, more are the troubles! Those days when we didn’t have gadgets and all our films had repeated audiences, who would watch the films 30 to 40 times, in cinema halls only. Nowadays, with YouTube and other websites, the pirated versions of the recently released films are out within hours after the release, thereby killing the producers.”

The Ulagam Suttrum Vaaliban actress is confident that Nagesh Thiraiyarangam will turn out to be good, as she finds the right spark in the director. “I am looking forward for the shoot,” she smiles and signs off!
