Prasanna's new lease of life

Hard work goes hand in hand with actor Prasanna. Coming from a non-filmy background, he has carved a place for himself in the industry by choosing author-backed scripts. With Nibunan releasing today, we are sure to see Prasanna’s version 2.0.  

Speaking to DC, Prasanna says, “Nibunan’s director, Arun Vaidyanathan and I know each other since Achamundu Achamundu days. We share a great rapport, which helps us on and off-screen. The USP of Nibunan is that it is not a typical crime thriller. Arun has etched the script in such a way that it’s not serious throughout. I play Joseph, a not-so-serious cop, who brings in the fun element on screen. I hope I’ve maintained a perfect balance in emoting the thrilling and funny moments.”

The Anjathey actor has high regards for Arun. “Since Joseph isn’t a typical cop, Arun wanted me to be myself on screen. He likes my sense of humour, and he let me play the role according to my instinct,” he adds.

Talking about the delay in releasing the film, he says, “Since the film is a Tamil–Kannada bilingual, we were looking at a perfect release date in both the languages. In today’s scenario, it is not difficult to helm a movie; the challenge lies in releasing it.”

Speaking about his co-star, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, he reveals, “It was fun shooting with Varu. We are like Tom and Jerry in the film — always pulling each other’s legs. Though Arun and I do not endorse fat-shaming, we had to add it for the film. It is delivered in a way that it wouldn’t hurt anyone.”

Explaining that he has no qualms doing multi-starrers, Prasanna, who has been concentrating on such offerings so far, believes that he should work on establishing himself as a solo hero. “After doing a few films as a lead, I’ll come back to doing multi-starrers,” he discloses.
