A new lease of life!
Having forayed into Kannada and Malayalam film industries, Iswarya believes that Veera will bring her the much-needed break.
Iswarya Menon, who has bagged the lead role in director Rajaraman’s Veera is not a new face in Tamil cinema. She has been part of films like Theeya Velai Seyyanum Kumaru, Kadhalil Sodhapuvadhu Eppadi and Apple Penne, which didn’t fetch her recognition. But, with Veera, Iswarya is looking forward to making a mark in the industry.
Having forayed into Kannada and Malayalam film industries, Iswarya believes that Veera will bring her the much-needed break. “Producer Elred Kumar bankrolled my Kannada film Namo Boothatma, and thought I would be perfect for Veera. I attended the audition and got the part. The story is set in north Madras and I play a girl from the area, who has finished her college in Ooty,” she says.
The petite actress also reveals that she had to undergo special training for her role. “I was given training for 15 days. It was not to master north Madras slang, but for my character as a whole,” she adds. The talkie portions are almost complete and the team is planning to shoot the songs abroad.
Iswarya, who is fluent in Tamil, states that she was born and brought up here. “I did my schooling in Erode and college in Chennai. That is how I got into doing ad-films and eventually made it to the big screen. I’ve always wanted to become an actress,” she concludes.
