Leo' song gets disclaimer
Filmmakers give in to Na Ready' critics
Following the controversy over the song ‘Naa Ready’ from Vijay’s film Leo, which features smoking and drinking visuals, the production team has added health warnings. The song’s lyrical video was unveiled on Vijay’s birthday, and it immediately drew criticism from several quarters.
PMK leader Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss condemned Vijay for onscreen smoking and urged him to refrain from doing such scenes, arguing that children and students might mimic his behaviour. Social activist RTI Selvam lodged an online complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner against the Leo team for allegedly glorifying drug use.
To counter these criticisms, the filmmakers have amended the lyrical video to include disclaimers regarding smoking and drinking. All scenes in the song that show cigarettes or alcohol will now come with a health warning.
