Dhanshika has been in the limelight ever since she was chosen by Ranjith to play the daughter of Superstar Rajinikanth in his upcoming gangster flick Kabali.

Her role in the film is reportedly a significant one, with grey shades. The dusky actress will also be seen as an uptight cop in her forthcoming film Kaathadi. Needless to say, the adventurous girl has done a few of the daredevil stunts seen in the movie.

Kaathadi is directed by Kalyan, who got rave reviews and critical acclaim for his recent offering Kadha Solla Porom. Giving Dhanshika the romantic company is Avishek, a cousin of Sridevi Boney Kapoor, brother of actress Maheshwari.

John Vijay, Sampath, Naan Kadavul Rajendran, Kaali Venkat and Madhumitha are among others playing supporting roles.

“It’s an action comedy about the kidnapping of a child, Sathanya, and how police officer Dhanshika saves the kid forms the story. There are also touching sentimental scenes which would go well with family audiences,” says Kalyan.

Ask Dhanshika, who is an athlete in real life, about the action sequences she performed without using a body double in the movie, she quips, “My height is what fetched me this role! Basically, I am trained in silambam and martial arts. Even as I started my career, I did a physically strenuous role in the Jayam Ravi-starrer Peraanmai. Stunts are also anticipated when you are essaying a cop’s role. I enjoyed every task I performed in Kaathadi.”

So, who is her inspiration for the cop role? “I have grown watching Thalaivar Rajinikanth’s movies. Once again, I watched some of his best cop roles, including Moondru Mugam, and took references from them .” (laughs)

The moment you ask about Kabali, she becomes tight-lipped — “I am not supposed talk about film!”
