Maestro says he lives in the hearts of people'
The audio launch of Oru Iyakkunarin Kadhal Diary turned into an emotional affair.
At the audio launch of Oru Iyakkunarin Kadhal Diary, directed by Velu Prabhakaran, known for his controversial films with explicit sex sequences, lyricist Snehan’s speech drew everyone’s attention. He was taking a dig at people who criticise Velu Prabhakaran’s films saying he has shown what has been happening in the society. “Prabhakaran sir and I are in talks for a possible collaboration, where I play the lead actor. When people heard that, they asked me, ‘Oh God, why in his film?’ as if he is an untouchable. It is unacceptable!” says Snehan.
Similarly, when Snehan tried to speak highly of Ilaiyaraaja, who has scored music for the film, he got emotional — “There should have been schools, universities or at least streets named after the legendary Ilaiyaraaja sir, who has brought in a sea of change for the music scenario in Tamil films.”
Even before he could finish his speech, Raja, who was present there intercepted him and said, “By naming streets, schools or universities after me, people won’t remember me forever. It is through my music. I will live in the hearts of people even after my demise.”
OIKD, which chronicles the love life of a film director with three generations of women, is akin to an autobiography of Velu Prabhakaran, and has Pon Swathi playing the female lead.
