Anbarivu back at work
The High Court granted injunction against the Stunt Union's removal of their membership.
The removal of the top Kollywood stunt choreographer twins Anbu and Arivu — popularly called Anbarivu — from the South Indian Cine & TV Stunt Directors And Stunt Artistes Union has been stayed by High Court and the duo is back at work. With 75 films in various languages including Kabali, 24, Madras and Kashmora to their credit, Anbarivu speaks to us about what led to this situation.
They said, “We are conducting classes and rehearsals for stuntmen at our place in Maduravoyal, where we train them for the stunt sequences that we are choreographing. This we are doing it at our own cost. We do this mainly because training helps them to work faster during the shoot and also it helps prevent accidents as well. President Somasundar and secretary V Manikandan of the union did not like us giving training to stuntmen and citing this as a reason removed us from the union membership and prevented the cooperation of stuntmen members from the union for our current films. “
The repeated request to to the office bearers of the union to revoke the ban did not yield any result. Finally, Anbarivu had no choice but to approach the court. The High Court granted injunction against the Stunt Union’s removal of their membership.
