Shruti Haasan is back in Tamil with a Vijay Sethupathi film titled Laabam, directed by national award winner Jananathan. The film explores the lives of farmers and how they have been exploited right from the time the British ruled us. While Vijay Sethupathi will be seen as a person who raises his voice for various causes in the film, Shruti will portray a musician named Clara.

Recently, the intro song of Shruti was shot at a set in the city. The unit was in awe of the efforts Shruti took for making the rock number. They describe her as an amazing talent.

Speaking to DC, Aaru Kumar, who bankrolls the film along with VSP, says, “This track which begins with My name is Clara in Imman’s composition is the intro song of Shruti in the film. This high energetic rock number needed Shruti to perform some daredevil stunts. It’s a stage song, where Clara would be introduced to audiences descending from a rope. And there were a few other stunts involved, which she did with aplomb and without a body double. We had planned the shoot for four days, but it got extended to eight days. But her energy levels were intact and we were stunned with her dedication and performance. She is truly a ‘Rock Star’.”

Meanwhile, Shruti has been roped in to play the female lead of  the Tollywood remake of Tamil blockbuster Vijay starrer Theri opposite Ravi Teja.
