Abhinaya's meaty role in Nisabdham
The Nadodigal actress portrays a three dimensional role in the film.
Abhinaya, the hearing and speech-impaired actress, who is choosy about her roles in films, will be seen in Nisabdham, which deals with the sensitive subject of child abuse. Michael Arun, who has worked in many films under the Super Good banner, turns independent with this film.
“I took the idea based on real-life incidents that were often taking place in Bengaluru, and were reported in several newspapers. Though it is a complex subject, I have not sensationalised it. My screenplay is written in such a way that the essence of the script is visually conveyed in a proper manner. That way, I hope I’ll get a U certificate from the censor board”, Arun quips.
Talking about Abhinaya’s character, he says, “Unlike her early flicks, she has done a meaty role with aplomb. She has portrayed three different characters rolled in one — a lover, wife and mother of an eight-year-old child. A certain incident changes her daughter’s life and how Abhinaya’s character handles the situation and brings back her child’s life to normalcy forms the crux.”
Being the heart and soul of the film, Abhinaya’s dubbing was very challenging, he adds. “I didn’t want to compromise and hence I chose ace dubbing artiste Savitha Reddy for Abhi. Savitha was the biggest asset for the movie. Abhinaya could easily bring the right expression for the dialogues, but there will be a loose finish when she completes them. Savitha and I improvised during dubbing and made sure that each and every dialogue syncs with her lip movements.”
Mysskin, Radha Ravi and Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, who watched the preview, were raving about the flick and its debut filmmaker Michael Arun.
