Sanam Shetty, who is shuttling between K’town and Tollywood, has been roped in for a period film titled Thagadu. The movie, directed by Thangadurai, has Prabha and Ajay as heroes, and has contemporary settings as well. The director tells DC, “A group of students embark on a journey to a historical place as part of their research. They go to the ruins of a fort, where they have supernatural experiences.

The spirit of one of the kings who ruled the place starts haunting the group. How their life turns upside down forms the rest of the story.”

Sanam has a meaty role in both the current and period set ups, he adds. “We shot the period portions in Kangundi Fort in Andhra, which is a virgin locale untouched by any film units. There are no proper roads. So we had to walk four kilometres in the hilly terrain,” he reveals.
