Film will create a huge buzz, says Seeman
Seeman will be seen as an upright cop Anbarasan, who helps the lovers to unite.
Mundhirikaadu, set against the backdrop of cashew nut farmers and the appalling conditions they work and live in, talks about rampant caste discrimination and may create an impact when released. Retaining the core essence of the novel ‘Petthavan’ by ace writer Imayam, which is horrifying tale of people trapped within the barbed wires of caste, honour and identity, director Kalanjium has woven an intense film. I am honoured to be a part of the film,” filmmaker and actor turned politician Seeman remarked.
The film has Pugazh, son of senior Indian Communist party leader C Mahendran making his debut as the lead protagonist with Subhapriya playing his romantic co-star. Seeman will be seen as an upright cop Anbarasan, who helps the lovers to unite.
Seeman added that Mundhirikaadu would bring about a change in the society. “I am not looking at Mundhiri…. as a film, but more of a political arena, with Kalanjium sending out a huge message. It not only talks about honour killings and violence in the name of caste, but also throws light on the treatment of women who are constantly objectified as a commodity and are under a constant threat of abasement.”
Communist party leader Nallakannu, Mahendran, Rajumurugan and AK Priyan were among those present on the occasion.
