Update: 2024-09-22 18:40 GMT
From his humble beginnings when he arrived in Chennai to lavishing praise on Anirudh, Rajinikanth took the stage at the event and he spoke from his heart

Superstar Rajinikanth stole the spotlight at the audio launch of his upcoming film Vettaiyan, delivering an impromptu dance performance followed by a captivating 45-minute speech. The superstar received a rousing welcome as he entered the venue.

Taking the stage, Rajinikanth reflected on his nearly 50-year journey in the film industry. “I came into this industry knowing nothing. I just boarded a train and arrived here. Today, I stand here because of your unwavering support,” he expressed with gratitude.
Rajinikanth then spoke about Vettaiyan and his discussions with director Gnanavel. “I loved his earlier work Jai Bhim, but I made it clear that I wanted Vettaiyan to be a full-on commercial entertainer, not a preachy film,” Rajinikanth revealed, emphasizing his preference for celebratory, high-energy cinema over message-heavy narratives.
The superstar also insisted on Anirudh Ravichander as the film's music director, stating, “I needed Anirudh 1000% for this project."
Rajinikanth candidly acknowledged the pressures of maintaining success in the film industry. “Whether after a hit or a flop, there’s constant tension to deliver. The pressure has only increased after Jailer,” he said.
In a broader reflection on society, he added, “We live in a world full of manipulators like Shakuni. It’s tough to survive if you’re purely good — you need a bit of cunning and wisdom.”
The event also featured a video message from Amitabh Bachchan, who praised Rajinikanth as the “supreme star of all stars.” Vettaiyan, produced by Lyca Productions, is set for a multi-lingual release on October 10.
