Vidya Malavade, the talented actress, is riding high on the success of her Netflix web series Mismatched Season 3. In a freewheeling chat with Deccan Chronicle, Vidya talks about her experience with the show and what makes it click.
“The simplicity in which the show is written about—the universal language of love and everything that is associated with love is what makes it work,” Vidya explains. “That’s why I think it’s just hit a chord with everyone who’s seen the show and has loved it and seen it multiple times and has absolutely fallen in love with all the characters that are there on the show.”
Vidya’s character, Zeenat, has undergone significant transformation from season 1 to season 3. “What a transformation she’s had,” Vidya says. “I absolutely love Zeenat. And to embody her was something else. There are a lot of similarities between me and Zeenat, of course. And I love how progressive she is.”
One of the most memorable experiences for Vidya was wearing the cat suit in season 2. “Season two was absolutely crazy,” Vidya recalls. “That whole thing about wearing the cat suit was something else.”
Vidya has played diverse roles throughout her career, from ‘Chak De’ to ‘Inside Edge’ and ‘Mismatched’. When asked about her dream character, Vidya says, “I would love to be a part of comedy space because everybody who knows me calls me entertainment dot com. So I would love to be playing a comedy part hopefully soon. Zeenat had a little bit of it, but not too much.”
Vidya is also a trained Kathak dancer and would love to play a courtesan role, like in Umrao Jaan or Heeramandi. That would be wonderful. Manifest, manifest.”
When asked if Vidya believes in manifestation. She says, “A 100pc. My life is manifestation.”
Talkin g about her future project, Vidya says, “Mismatched 3 is trending at number one on Netflix, with seasons one and two also in the top ten. I also have a theatrical release, Sangee coming up on January 17. It's a fun film and I am excited to be back on the big screen.”
