Mammootty all set to create a record
A fifth movie in the CBI franchise is on the anvil
Malayalam Superstar Mammootty will be creating a record by being the first Indian actor to be part of the fifth sequel to a blockbuster when he acts in the next film in the CBI franchise.
Along with Mammootty, screenwriter Swamy, director K Madhu and composer Shyam are also set to return to the franchise.
The first in the series – Oru CBI Diary Kurippu, released in 1988 – was a turning point in Mammootty's career. It was followed by Jagratha, Sethurama Iyer CBI and Nerariyan CBI.
Swamy has reportedly said that the fifth one will be even more thrilling than the earlier ones, and has a contemporary theme.
The team is expected to begin shooting once the situation in Kerala returns to normal after the Covid-19 pandemic.
In Tamil, Suriya has acted in a three-part franchise - Singam - with director Hari.
