Kochi: He could barely stand without the aid of crutches and students of a Kochi school were all attentive as actor-cum-director Sidharth Bharathan, himself a mishap victim, spoke at length how a refusal from the driver of a vehicle speeding from opposite direction turned his world upside down.

The 33-year-old actor, who is still recuperating from serious injuries sustained in a car mishap on September 12 in Kochi, was addressing students of the Assisi Public School, Kakkanad, as part of the MVD launching district-wise road safety campaign.

“Most people think they are experts in driving and that accidents won’t happen to them. I too was having a similar mindset when the tragedy occurred. It was all due to the refusal of the driver coming from opposite side to dim the light. For a second I got totally blank and it was enough to lose control of my vehicle,” Sidharth, son of late legendary filmmaker Bharathan and veteran actress KPAC Lalitha, said.

He says a person’s responsibility doubles the moment when he gets a license from the MVD department. “As a responsible person, they should show the right attitude towards fellow motorists too. If the students could learn to be responsible while driving after ten years there will be a noticeable fall in accidents,” he said, adding the students should question each and every traffic violation on the roads.
Actress Ramya Nambeesan, who attended as the special guest, urged students to be patient while driving.
