Merin Gregory is on cloud nine following the release of the teaser of the Nokki Nokki song in Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming movie Jomonte Suviseshangal. The teaser of the song composed by Vidyasagar has gone viral on social networking sites in a short span and, Merin calls it luck.

“There are a lot of talented people in the industry. If you want to top the chart, you need luck and hard work. At least that is what I understood in these years,” says Merin.

The 23-year-old singer was the winner of the Idea Star Singer Season 6, which eventually led her to a few songs, beginning with a song in the movie Romans.

Explaining how she landed this opportunity with Vidyasagar, Merin says, “I casually sent my demo recording when I came to know about the opportunity. I had not much expectation. But when the call came from Vidya ji’s manager, I was really excited. It was during Onam season and tickets to Chennai were not available. So, my family drove me to Chennai that night and I didn’t get enough sleep when I went for the rehearsal in front of Vidya ji.”

“But he was kind enough to understand the situation and asked me to get proper sleep before the reschedule. Initially, I was so nervous and my voice didn’t come out properly. But he had the patience to wait till I got it right,” shares Merin.

Interestingly, while recording, Merin had no idea that she was singing for Jomonte Suvisheshangal.

“I didn’t have the courage to ask for which movie I was singing. But the excitement to sing for Vidyaji was above everything else,” cheers Merin, who is elated over the positive response to the song.

She has enough in her kitty with stage shows abroad and offers to sing for movies.

“I have signed up for another movie, but at present I cannotdisclose more about it,” she signs off.
