How Vikram floored his fan Rachana

As a mere mortal, you are allowed to scream, cry or have a complete nervous breakdown when you meet your favourite star in the flesh. But when you are a celebrity in your own right and you meet your idol at long last, it takes a lot of self- control to keep your inner fan girl in check. Actor-dancer Rachana Narayanankutty had one such trying situation when she had to douse her enthusiasm and maintain rigid self–control when she met Vikram — her idol. Not only did she meet him, she also got a chance to interview him and then lose her composure totally and scream when he made an assurance to her.

Admitting to being a huge Vikram fan right from her fifth standard, Rachana has seen every film of Vikram’s in Malayalam and Tamil.

“Never in my dreams did I fathom such a meeting. I am anchoring the Comedy Nights programme on Flowers Channel and I interview celebrities. When the channel people mentioned that I would be interviewing Vikram, I was pleased as punch at first followed by nervousness and anxiety. I have seen him at stage shows from a distance but never at close quarters though it has been a long standing dream.”

Rachana, though used to being in the limelight, started having doubts about the right questions to ask but she was very conscious of her duties as a host.

Rachana’s voice trills with excitement when she says, “As the interview progressed, I found Vikram to be very polite and very humble. Our show has some characters who enter in between to liven up the show and the lapel mike and head set of two participants fell down and it was Vikram who picked it up and returned it to them and even adjusted it for them. He is so down to earth that way.”

The show had Vikram’s classmates like Jose K. Mani and his ex colleagues from Mollywood walking in as a surprise factor. Vikram managed to turn the tables on Rachana when he came to know that she was a dancer. He asked her to dance and she did that with Vikram matching steps with her. Rachana does not remember the song she danced to nor the steps but she remembers Vikram’s lavish compliments. Soon after this came Vikram’s words, “You are a very graceful dancer and you will act in my next movie!” Rachana lost her composure and screamed out aloud in excitement. She adds, “The offer may or may not materialise but his words have boosted my confidence! When I requested him for a selfie, he himself clicked the selfie.”Currently fan girl Rachana is pursuing a course in dance from Bengaluru.
