Dileep's business deals and his alleged marriage before tying the knot to ex-wife Manju Warrier are also being reportedly investigated.

Kochi: Kerala Congress (B) leader and MLA K.B. Ganesh Kumar on Tuesday lent his  support to beleaguered actor Dileep, currently in jail in the actress assault case.  He has asked the  film fraternity “not to ditch him at the time of his misfortune.” Mr Kumar was among the prominent figures from the film industry who visited Dileep at Aluva sub-jail in the last two days.  The others included script writer Benny  P. Nayarambalam,  actor Sudheer, film-producers Antony Perumbavur, Bijoy Chandran and Arun Khosh, actor Jayaram, film director Renjith, actor Harisree  Asokan and Kalabhavan Shajon.

“Those who had received favours from Dileep earlier should not ditch him at the time of his misfortune… there is no point to isolate him as he has not been yet declared guilty by the court,” Mr Kumar said. “Dileep is my close friend and I’m here to meet him. I’ve no knowledge of the police investigation and I  cannot say whether it was carried out in the right way or not. If there is any mistake  in the police  investigation, the chief minister  should intervene,”  he told reporters while coming out of the  sub-jail.

The visits took place after the Angamaly  Judicial First Class Magistrate Court permitted Dileep to take part in the rituals in remembrance of his deceased father for a few hours on Wednesday. According to sources, the actor would be  first taken to his residence at  Aluva around 8 a.m. Later,  he would be taken to Aluva Manapuram to  complete the ritual before he is brought back  to the jail by around 11 a.m.  High security is being maintained at his  residence and   Manappuram to prevent any untoward incidents.
