Get ready for Kumbarees, a celebration of friendship
The film will see Queen-fame actors Jenson Alappat, Eldho Mathew and Aswin pairing up with Angamaly Diaries-fame Tito Wilson.
After the roaring success of Angamaly Diaries and Queen, based on a group of youngsters and their life, yet another film featuring a gang of buddies, is gearing up for release. Kumbarees, directed by Sagar Hari, an associate of Rajeev Ravi, will feature Angamaly Diaries-fame Tito Wilson and Queen-fame actors Jenson Alappat, Eldho Mathew and Aswin as the lead.
Kumbarees, the makers say, is a nickname for buddies like machan, bro, aliyan and saho, the earlier buddy addresses made popular through films. In the movie, Tito and Aswin play best friends John and Shambhu and Andrea plays Jincy, Aswin's love interest.
Kumbarees will be Tito's most awaited film after his stellar debut as U-Clamp Rajan in Angamaly Diaries and critically-acclaimed performances in Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil and Maradona.
Set in Alappuzha, the film has on board Ramesh Pisharody and Vijayakumar, Indrans and Mareena Michael Kurishingal among the cast. Produced by Joby George, the film's cinematographer is Sreekanth Easwar. The songs penned by Ashwin Krishna are composed by Sibu Sukumaran. The folksy Alappuzha song Alippazham rendered by Madhu Balakrishnan has already earned a place in hit charts.
The movie’s satellite rights have already been purchased by Surya TV, perhaps a first for a debutant filmmaker's movie in Malayalam. Kumbarees will hit the screens on August 16.
