It was almost the same time as her debut film as heroine in Malayalam — Nee Ko Nja Cha reached the screens that her maiden Tamil venture Kozhi Koovuthu also got released. Later, she shifted focus to her mother tongue.

Now, after a small gap, Sija Rose is becoming active in Tamil film industry. The actress, who essayed a pivotal role in Vijay Sethupathi’s Rekka, has recently completed acting in Vijay’s Bhairava. Sija says that it was her role in Kozhi Koovuthu that helped her make a re-entry in Kollywood.

“Director Shiva (Rethin Shiva) sir was in search for an actor for the role of Mala in Rekka. In fact, the reference for that role was the character I had essayed in Kozhi Koovuthu. The scouting for an actress finally reached me,” says the actress, who is happy about the good responses for the film Rekka.

About her role in Bhairava, she says, “It was after I joined Rekka that I got the call to Bhairava to essay the pair of Harish Uthaman and the cousin of Keerthy Suresh. My portions were filmed at Hyderabad.”

Even while she is active in Tamil, Sija tries to be part of Malayalam film industry. Asif Ali-starrer Kavi Udheshichathu  was her recent release in Malayalam.
“It was really nice working with such a crew. It was an interesting film,” says Sija. “In that movie, I acted as Asif's sister and I am happy that the movie is doing good in box office,” she adds.

Sija points out that she has not committed to any films in Malayalam now. “I am interested in something different and I am looking forward to doing that.”
Quizzed her about the gap in Malayalam, she says, “I was assisting director Rajesh Pillai in Traffic (Hindi) and Mili.” Sija has also acted in Traffic.

About her direction plans, she says, “Yes, I am interested in direction and will venture into that area at the right time. Before that, I have to zero in on a subject and have much more to do.”
