Get over Baahubali and 2.0; Mohanlal to star in 600 cr film, set to be costliest yet
The film will be a two-part adaptation of M.T.'s 'Randamoozham,' a re-telling of the Mahabharatha from Bheema's perspective.
Mumbai: While there are highly awaited films with mammoth budgets, under-production, like Shankar's '2.0,' SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali: The Conclusion,' and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmavati,' seems like Mollywood supremo 'Mohanlal' is all set to venture into something unprecedented and unimaginable, eclipsing them all.
The actor, who delivered an all-time blockbuster in the 150 crore rupees grossing 'Pulimurugan,' made on a modest budget of 25 crore rupees, will soon be seen in the highly anticipated reel adaptation of legendary writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair's cult classic, 'Randaamoozham'. The book is a mythological re-telling of the Mahabharata, albeit from the perspective of Bheema.
The actor revealed during a chat show that the film will be made in two parts, a la 'Baahubali,' and will feature A-list actors from across Indian film industries, including Bollywood, Kollywood and Tollywood.
However, what was most astonishing was when the superstar revealed that the film is to be mounted on a gargantuan budget of nearly 600 crore rupees.
The adaptation has been in the making for the longest time, with veteran director Hariharan associated with it. While Lal has been finalised to play the protagonist Bheema, there were initial reports suggesting that fellow Mollywood superstar Mammootty would be seen playing Karna and Kamal Haasan would be playing Duryodhan.
However, apart from Mohanlal, none of the cast members have been finalised as yet.
With a bound script in his custody, the film will go on the floors in 2018, according to him.
Well, this is one film we can barely wait for now, isn't it?
