No Telugu remake for Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru
Latest update on the Hindi remake is that the rights have already been sold and an A-lister actor is expected to reprise Rahman's role in the film.
In an earlier interview with DC, director Karthick Naren announced that his debut film Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru will be remade in Telugu and Hindi with leading actors from the industries. But, the recent update is that the Telugu remake isn’t happening as the makers wanted Karthick to direct the Telugu remake as well.
Speaking to DC, Karthick says, “Telugu actors Nagarjuna and Venkatesh expressed their interest in being a part of the remake. Initially, they wanted me to direct the film, but I don’t want to remake my own film at this point of time. Also, it takes a lot of time to analyse the likings of the people and the industry market. So, I couldn’t helm the Telugu remake and hence the film is being dubbed and released by Sri Tirumala Tirupathi Venkateshwara Films.” The dubbed version will have a March release.
The latest update on the Hindi remake is that the rights have already been sold and an A-lister actor is expected to reprise Rahman’s role in the film. “Compared to Telugu, I am slightly aware of the Hindi market. The Hindi remake will take time to materialise and I will work on it after I finish Naragasooran, mostly,” he adds.
Currently, Karthick is working on his second Tamil film, Naragasooran. He states that the casting process is almost done and it includes actors from Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. It is speculated that Arvind Swami will play the lead role in the flick.
