Neeraja says Hello Dubaikkaran

The pretty doe-eyed Neeraja K is here to say hello to the Malayali audience through the film Hello Dubaikkaran. The degree student will be playing a bold girl Nirmala who works in a hotel and is the sole breadwinner of her family. Incidentally, this is not the Kozhikode-based actress’ debut. She has acted in a small role in the film KL 10  Pathu which had Unni Mukundan in the lead and will be seen in the upcoming Biju Menon film Rakshadhikari Baiju in which she plays Aju Varghese’s sister.

Neeraja started off with a lead role in the Tamil movie Aaranyam. “One of my friends Prabhu Shankar shared my photo with the makers who contacted me. It seemed they wanted a curly-haired girl who could dance and I fitted the bill.” The movie saw Neeraja in another bold role as a girl who uploaded photos of all her wrongdoings on her social page. She has presently signed up for another Tamil film Kathir where she plays a village belle. Neeraja has been in love with dance since she was three. She has done performances and has won prizes for Yakshaganam and Bharatanatyam.

Having entered the world of cinema at the age of 16, she is managing to strike a balance between her studies and career. She is pursuing her degree through a distance learning course. “In between my shooting schedules, I do not find the time to attend regular classes. Hence I am compelled to take the distance education route,” says the actress, whose favourites are Vijay in Tamil and Dulquer Salmaan in Malayalam. Though she wants to do good films and continue her career in films, Neeraja has another big dream. “I am also preparing for the IAS exams,” she smiles.
