An exciting debut for Gaadha
Gaadha essays the role of Vidya in Priyadarshan's Nimir.
For Gaadha, the call to act in director Priyadarshan’s film Nimir has been an unexpected one. The girl who has been dreaming of cinema since her teenage days wholeheartedly accepted the offer. “It was after casting all other female characters that Priyan sir saw my photo. He came across it quite accidentally. He liked it and selected me,” says Gaadha, who is settled in Kochi.
Though she pursued her degree in fashion designing, deep in her mind Gaadha knew that she would become an actor once. “But, I never thought I would get a big debut like this,” she says.
“I did fashion designing just because I got admission for that. Cinema has been my aim always. I used to watch films in all languages and enact scenes later. Since I grew up watching all films, it wasn't difficult for me to render dialogues in Tamil,” she adds.
In Nimir, which is the remake of Maheshinte Prathikaram, Gaadha plays the role of Vidya (Soniyamol in Mahesinte Prathikaram). Actor M.S. Bhaskar plays her father’s role. “Most of my combination scenes were with M.S. Bhaskar sir and Karunakaran, who reprised Soubin’s role. I had a few scenes with Namitha too.”
Gaadha had a memorable time on the sets. “The shooting was in Thenkasi. It was a big location with big names working in it. I was a little apprehensive on the first day, but things started to fall into place gradually. Everyone was quite friendly and hence it was comfortable. Priyan sir is a cool director,” she recalls.
But, what Gaadha cherishes is the compliment that Priyadarshan has given for her performance. “Priyan sir told me that I was looking good on screen and my performance was good. He said I have a good future and advised me to choose good films. It was surprising for me. The compliment means a lot to me,” says Gaadha, who is happy about the positive feedback for her performance in the movie.
Quiz what she learnt from her first movie, she replies, “The set has taught me to be friendly with all and give the best performance,” she says and adds that she will stay in cinema.
