It was on February 27 that director Rajesh Pillai passed away, the very next day his last film Vettah hit the screens. The film, which has Manju Warrier, Kunchacko Boban and Indrajith in the lead roles, was produced by Red Rose creations in association with Rajesh Pillai Films (RPF).

The latest news is that after Vettah, RPF is all set to produce more films. This year, two films will be produced under the banner of this production. The first film will be directed by editor-turned-screenwriter Mahesh Narayan. Kunchacko Boban and Parvathy will essay the lead roles in this yet to be titled film. Mahesh has been an associate with Rajesh for two films — as the editor of Traffic and as the screenwriter of Mili.

The second film will be directed by Manu Ashokan, who was Rajesh’s chief associate director. This untitled film, which is slated to start by September, will be filmed based on a story written by Rajesh himself. These films will be produced by Rajesh’s wife Megha.

According to Suraj Philip Jacob, the executive producer with RPF, along with the film production, the production house has instituted two film awards — for the best debut director and best comeback artiste/technician in Mollywood. “Apart from these, we have decided to release a memoir about Rajesh chettan. It will be released by next February,” he says.
