Financial, call details led to actor Dileep's arrest

Thiruvananthapuram: Though Dileep had the backing of the many prominent actors with CPM connection, intervention by Women in Cinema Collective compelled the government to ensure a fair probe into the case.

Police sources said that the arrest could be done only after obtaining incriminating evidence.

The arrest of Dileep is much more shocking than that of actor Jagathy Sreekumar who was arrested in connection with Vithura sex case in the late 1990s. He was later acquitted.

The photograph of Dileep with the Sunil Kumar alias Pulsar Suni, who executed the crime, in the background, details of financial transactions between Dileep and Suni and some phone conversations were the crucial incriminating evidence against Dileep, sources said.
