Even while devoting his time on designing titles and posters for Malayalam films, Aneesh Gopal was not ready to give up his acting dreams. Aneesh, who started his onscreen journey in the role of Vikatan in his friend Srinath Rajendran's Second Show, for which he designed the posters also, is now coming up in different avatars in two films - Valliyum Thetti Pulliyum Thetti and Hallelooyah, which are slated to reach theatres this month.
The actor essays the role of Lolan, who stands behind Saiju Kurup's Bhajrangan in Valliyum Thetti Pulliyum Thetti. It was around four-five years back, Aneesh came to know about this project. “It was actor Mithun Nalini who introduced Rishi to me. I was then waiting for my next project as a designer after Second Show. Rishi came to my office Yellowtooth at Alinchivadu in Kochi and narrated the script.
“I liked the subject and agreed to help them to find producers and other actors. Though I joined them in the producer hunt, unfortunately I got busy with some other design works”, says the actor, adding, “But Rishi did not strike out my name from his team. When his subject became a movie format, he gave me a good role.”
His yet another film to be released this month is Hallelooyah, which has Narein and Meghana Raj in the lead roles. “ As in the previous film, I have got a ‘throughout’ character in this project. I act as a funny politician, who hails from Kannur, says the actor, who has designed the posters of the film too.”
He is currently busy with designing the posters for Udaya’s Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho, Prithviraj’s Karnan, Amal Neerad’s Dulquer film, Roopesh Peethambaran’s next directorial venture and Praveen Prabharam’s Villain.
Aneesh says it was his friendship with Kunchacko Boban, which started during the production of VTPT that helped him to get the chance to design the posters for Udaya’s Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho. “I have shown my works to Ichayan during the shoot of VTPT. One day he called me and said to give the title design, adding that he will give me the poster work only if he likes the title design. And now, I am designing its posters”, he sums up.
