A sweet transformation: Ibrahim Badusha
Cartoonist-turned-filmmaker Ibrahim Badusha's debut film Madhuram explores the funny side of diabetes
Have you ever thought about what makes life sweet? Cartoonist-turned-filmmaker Ibrahim Badusha’s debut venture Madhuram explores that angle. Badusha, who is passionate about movies, has taken diabetes as the core theme of his first directorial venture. “These days, diabetes has become common among us. Through this movie, I take a look at this lifestyle disease and life in general. I connect diabetes with life,” he says. ‘The lead character’s name is Madan, a flirtatious man in his thirties. He loves savouring the sweetness of life but he does not find that in his wife.
He has a lover. Madan’s life takes a different course once he is detected with diabetes. That forms the crux of the story,” adds Badusha, who makes it a point that his works should be beneficial to society in some ways. However, one should not mistake Madhuram to be a preachy movie. “It is treated with humour. Usually, we see the negative side of a disease and get frustrated over it. Madhuram shows a positive change one disease can bring in a person’s life. It exhorts the audience to experience the best side of life,” explains Badusha, who has also written the story.
