The Malayalam film industry has been going through a tough time since December 2016 due to the tiff between Kerala Film Exhibitors Federation and Kerala Film Producers Association. Although most of the celebrities have remained silent on the issue, actor Prithviraj has made his stance clear on the issue through his recent Facebook post.

He began the post by praising Pulimurugan and its makers for entering the dream 100 crore club and said that the achievement would be an inspiration for everyone in the industry to dream bigger. At the same time, he shared his apprehension about the ongoing strike. “I don’t believe that the A class theatres in Kerala are running at loss continuously. Besides, like all those who work in the industry, I too believe that the year 2015-2016 was a golden year for theatre owners. Then, why this demand now?,” he asked.

Though he didn’t go deep into the nuances of the issue, he wondered if anybody vouches that there are single screens in Kerala that offer amenities of a multiplex, why can’t they form a theatre rating panel agreeable to all organisations?

And, he said that he supports producers and distributors. “That is not because I am a producer or distributor. But, because I am a movie lover who wishes to position our cinema as one of the pillars of our culture in front of the world.” he said.
